About Greg Kirkpatrick

" FROM THE  BELAHS " ;

I was born in Northern New South Wales,  Australia, a fair while ago,  and was raised on our family farm "Coleraine" , located where the Belah trees  ( Casuarina cristata ), were common.

The property was primarily a mixed Grain, and Sheep farm.

 Have travelled a bit  here and there  - hope you enjoy the Photos and Tales

Lived in Papua New Guinea for approximately 12 years with my wife of 46 years, Jenny. We returned to Australia in late 2015.

3 Kids all well grown now, Adam, Cameron and Deborah ( with Husband, Ash)  - who are making good progress in their lives - and Grandchild, Kia, who is also making good progress. The latest family addition, Grandson Finn, is great.

I have developed a particular interest in Nature Photography, especially Birdlife.

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, and the Etosha NP in Namibia, which we visited in 2014 via a self drive 4 x 4, were all outstanding places for Nature photography. I have included a lot of photographs from that 8,000 km expedition, in the Portfolio Sections

I have included a separate Portfolio section on Papua New Guinea ; a fascinating country, full of the unexpected.

Looking forward to doing some more long range trips into the deep inland of Australia, in the future.  In April 2016 we did our first big inland trek to the Eastern edge of the Simpson Desert, West of Birdsville in Queensland. A round trip of 4,800 km over approx. 3 weeks

In August 2019 we travelled back to Africa. A 3,700 km road trip in a self drive 4x4 over 3 weeks;

commencing and finishing in Johannesburg RSA , via eSwatini ( Swaziland), and Mozambique. A great trip and we saw the big 5 in Kruger NP ( in one day ).

The site is not an Historical Family site - that is the domain of Brother Wal's site- but there some old pics of current generations.

Thanks to Friends and Family Members who have donated some of the Photographs
